Prof. Fabrizio Nestola, Academician of the Italian Academy of Sciences, came to our college for academic exchange

On the afternoon of May 28, Prof. Fabrizio Nestola, Academician of the Italian Academy of Sciences, engaged in academic exchange activities of our college. Prof. Nestola is a distinguished mineralogist and crystallographer who holds a professorship in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Padova in Italy. He has made remarkable contributions to the research on natural diamond inclusions mineral inclusions in diamonds and has been honored with prestigious accolades such as the Humboldt Research Award. Additionally, he has been elected as a member of both International Geochemical Society and European Academy of Sciences. Furthermore, he has been recognized as a Life Fellow by the Mineralogical Society of America and was awarded with the Dana Medal by this society.

Prof. Nestola came to Nanjing this time to attend the Inaugural Academic Conference on new minerals and the International Museum Exchange Conference. During his visit to our school, he toured the Key State Laboratories and engaged in fruitful discussions with laboratory supervisors and researchers on cutting-edge areas related to mineralogy and analytical technology. Following the laboratory visit, Prof. Nestola had a productive meeting with Academician Yang Jingsui's research group and Prof. Zhang Aicheng to discuss research directions to mineralogy and diamond inclusions at both universities. The discussion was attended by Ms. Wu Yiwen, Secretary of Scientific Research and Foreign Affairs, Dr. Souvik DAS, a foreign postdoctoral fellow, and Qu Kai and Wang Yun, Ph.D. students in our school.
