From October 9 to 14, 2024, Professor Catherine Mulligan, who is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Canadian Academy of Engineering, Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) and the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, visited Nanjing University. Invited by Professor Honghu Zhu, she engaged in extensive academic exchanges with faculty and students. Professor Mulligan delivered a keynote lecture titled "Sustainable Practices in Geoenvironmental Engineering" on October 10, exploring strategies for sustainable development in geological engineering.
During her visit, Professor Mulligan also conducted a one-day international short course on October 11, discussing key principles in geoenvironmental engineering with over 100 participants. She also had in-depth academic discussions and exchanges with Dr. Daoyuan Tan and Zhengtao Shen, as well as graduate students of the Institute of Earth Exploration and Sensing. Her visit provided valuable opportunities for international academic collaboration and inspired future research initiatives in the field.
